YOU THE PEOPLE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN STOP THIS HALOCAUST
Hi My name is Santee Burrell Ernst and I am here to bring to fruition a very solemn promise I made to my father in the morgue. As I had the staff roll him over for me in the morgue, I removed the hospital gown and saw a bandage on his left hip. I removed the bandage and I saw a wad of gauze. I pulled on the gauze and pulled and pulled and pulled until I finally got it all out of the flesh missing cavity. What I saw I will never get out of my head. My father had a hole in his hip all the way down to his bones. Once I got a grip as I knew I had to do I had them roll him over to the other side where there was another huge bandage and I pulled that one off. Under it was a wad of gauze twice the size of the other one. The hole was twice as big. It looked like a large shark had taken a bit out of my father's hip leaving only the bone and black necrotic tissue surrounding it. His penis was turning black which meant it had rotted also. All I could do was embrace his frozen little body and cry. As my warm lips touched and kissed his frozen hand and forehead and cheek I promised him I would do everything possible to bring about the needed change; for this not to have to happen to anyone else, ever again.
IF I HAD NOT BEEN SO PUSHY I WOULD NEVER HAVE DONE WHAT I DID.
HERE IN LIES THE PROBLEM...Our elder dies, the long term care facility takes them to the funeral home, the funeral home dresses them and makes them look good in the casket (dressed of course) you say your good byes and they are buried. OR they are driven to the crematorium and cremated and you go pick up there ashes. End of story but the beginning or mine and my mission that is emblazoned in my heart to stop the silent slaughter from neglect of our weak and vulnerable ELDERS.
Open your eyes to the long parades of gurneys you personally don't see going from long term care facilities to funeral homes that hold the bodies of our Elders with the proof of neglect and abuse they have endured. They have the deep holes in their bodies as proof our system is broken and all the evidence goes to the casket or the crematory with their name and no one in the industry ever says a word about what they see. This is happening hundreds of times a day everyday in every state in the USa. It is our nations big cover-up, our shame and our "in the closet" secret of the genocide of our Elders.
This is especially tragic when there is no reason that they should have these holes on their bodies to begin with. There are beds that could help to eliminate the problem but we can't get Medicare to pay for them because our beloved Elder is required to have a hole that exposes the bone, and then Medicare will pay for a bed - that would have prevented them in the first place. Cruelty at it worst forced on us by our government.
The Humane Society 4 Elders has been established out of the absolute necessity to inform you the public about the danger of bedsores/pressure ulcers/decubitus ulcers - all names for the same thing - rotting holes in the flesh found in our Elders who are non mobile or with limited mobility. That encompasses a large part of our society sadly. They suffer in silence due to drugs or inability to speak, die, go to the funeral home and NO ONE EVER SEES THEIR BACKSIDES!
These terms for the holes are misleading because the vast majority of people picture in their mind a pimple, boil or one layer sore for what happens to our Elders when they are in long term care facilities that can not adequately take the “proper care “of the numbers of patients that they have. Bedsore, pressure ulcer, decubitus should be translated to a term we can all understand and that is “a hole of rotting flesh". These holes of rotting flesh on a person get so bad that they become inches deep, cause excruciating pain and suffering, and most often exposes the bone. These rotting holes in the flesh end in death. These holes continue to grow in spite of all the medicine in the world because "the cause" of the holes is not addressed and no changes have been made to stop the holes from starting in the first place - which can be done immediately if Medicare would treat Elders humanely. We must elevate humanity in our society so that the human Elders here do not have to suffer while they are dying. WE MUST CHECK THEIR BACKSIDE WHILE IN THE CARE FACILITIES. THIS MUST BE MADE PUBLIC. Please Help me Help the Elders......
FACT: A patient must be turned at a minimum of every two hours to relieve pressure on the skin that is "pinched with no blood" between the bone and the bed surface. This is impossible in a long term care facility. There is not enough staff to do that on the best day. The government sets these staffing guidelines. As long as the staffing guidelines are so low - our Elders will die with holes in their backsides.
FACT: If the patient is not turned every 2 hours the skin will start to rot. It is that simple. There is not enough staff at any long term facility to accomplish the turning of Elders every two hours that are not mobile. What does that tell us? The genocide and torture will continue UNLESS we as a society decide we want it to be different. Some of those death beds over the next 10 years have our names on them. How long do we want to wait to make changes?
FACT: The skin needs to be clean. Did you ever wonder why so many long term care facilities smell like urine? There is not enough staff at any long term care facility (due to staffing guidelines and Corporate Greed in the United States to keep our immobilized ELDERS infected skin clean. This holes of rotting flesh usually found close to and mostly in the diaper area (hips, groin, coccyx, buttocks) need to be kept free of contamination from feces and urine. It is not unusual for an Elder to sit or lay in a soiled diaper for hours on end. I am not blaming the CNA's at the long term facilities by any stretch of the imagination. They are stressed out to the max trying to care for as many residents as they can as they are over worked and stressed out about the situation themselves. They have to see it every day. I give them Kudos because they work for very little money and it is usually the case that it is for them a calling to care for our Elders. Bless the care workers.
With the help of my Father's angels, this website I plan on taking this all the way to the White House. I have the pictures of my father which is all the proof I need to tell the world what is going on. We must WAKE UP. We must go visit the Elders in long term care and pull down the covers and check their backsides. We must throw back the covers of ignorance and not caring and take care of this very disgraceful problem. If we don't start to care and eliminate this crime we are left with one choice and that is that:
WE WILL BE THE NEXT ONES IN THOSE BEDS AND ON THOSE GURNEYS AFTER HAVING SUFFERED OUR SKIN ROTTING DOWN TO OUR BONES WHILE WE WERE ALIVE!

to make sure that everyone becomes aware of the issues, dangers, pain and suffering of these bed sores, pressure ulcers or decubitus ulcers. We need to get in touch with all of our law makers as well as President Obama and let them know this inhumane treatment of our elders is no longer tolerable.
